Nagi Shokudo, A Cute Vegan Cafe in the Heart of Shibuya, Tokyo!

Nagi Shokudo is a quaint cafe with a laid-back atmosphere and nice home-made vegan food. Once you try it, you'll soon understand why it's everyone's favorite vegan cafe.

Feel free to follow favy!

Nagi Shokudo

Nagi Shokudo is a nice little restaurant in Shibuya, however, it is not the easiest to find. You have to walk up a hill and be on the lookout for the red sign shown above. What is a little confusing is that you would expect it to be on the ground floor, but it's in a sort of basement.

The restaurant has an intimate atmosphere as only about 20 people can fit. The resto offers normal tables, as well as Japanese-style tables where you can sit directly on the floor. The latter is quite popular so you might have to make a reservation beforehand.
You can have a set meal menu for lunch for around ¥1,000. The atmosphere is laid-back and relaxed, it's a good place to unwind a little during your lunch break or in the evening with friends.

Unanimously, one of the must-try dishes is the tofu "karaage" (fried chicken). It has a nice crispy texture and is very flavourful.
It goes very well with brown rice and miso soup.
If you don't know what to order, you could also try the single person plate, which comes with a variety of small dishes to try. It's a great chance to discover a lot of the restaurant's specialties and new dishes.
All of them being vegan, you can have a taste of the chef's incredible creativity.
Lunch is ¥1,000 for a generous portion, which includes a main dish, rice, miso soup and a drink.
Dinner is a la carte and you can have Japanese or other types of Asian dishes.
Be sure to leave room for dessert as they do serve some mighty good ones. Earl Grey cake or blueberry cake, it depends on the chef's daily inspiration, but one thing's for sure, it will be delicious and most definitely worth the try.
In fact, you could also stop by just for afternoon tea.

Be sure to check out Nagi Shokudo! Vegetarian or not, you are bound to enjoy this vegetable-centred restaurant. Whether you came to Tokyo to try all of the meat dishes Japanese cuisine has to offer but are in need of a healthy break, or whether you're vegetarian and you're having a hard time finding vegetarian-friendly dishes at most restos, you are bound to enjoy this unpretentious and tasty restaurant.
