Umenohana: Elegant Kaiseki Cuisine Experience

Umenohana is a restaurant chain that mainly serves Kaiseki cuisines using tofu and yuba (soy bean skin). Here's a guide to Umenohana, one of the most elegant, authentic Japanese restaurant chains in Japan!

Feel free to follow favy!

Umenohana has 83 stores nationwide, which tells us how popular it is among Japanese people. Their atmosphere is calming and relaxing with its Japanese themed interiors. Some places have a small Japanese garden near the entrance, which creates welcoming ambience, and their rooms are mostly private, so you would not have to worry about getting distracted by other people's conversation.
They offer traditional tofu and yuba cuisines along with seasonal offers. Check below for information on their menu!

It is recommended to order a course so you can have variety of tofu cuisines. They offer seasonal course that is available for only limited time, so it is worth checking that out too. Their lunch menu is available at a fairly reasonable price around ¥2,000~3,000, and their dinner is for ¥6,000~7,000. They offer course menu for both lunch and dinner.
Their yuba is a must-try menu here. On average they offer around 15 dishes per course, including dessert. Their tofu and yuba are freshly served in a hot pot.
What I personally recommend is their Namafu dengaku (a fresh gluten cake with sweet miso paste on top). The green namafu is made of yomogi (Japanese herb, in other words Japanese Mugwort) and the white one has yuzu (Japanese citrus) flavored sweet-sour miso paste on top. Its chewy, smooth yet tender texture and namafu's slight sweetness and miso's sweet-sourness make you want to come back to it again.
They also have beautiful dessert like the one above. I bet their dessert is authentic too. Their green tea parfait would be a perfect dessert to finish off your Umenohana visit.
